Audio Ducker does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
The Extension is designed to function entirely locally on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, or usage analytics.
All user preferences (such as ducking volume levels, priority sites, and language settings) are saved locally in your browser using the standard chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device.
To provide its core functionality—automatically lowering the volume of background tabs when an active tab plays audio—the Extension requires specific browser permissions:
tabs: This permission is strictly used to monitor the audible state of your open tabs. It allows the Extension to detect which tab is currently playing media and send local commands to adjust the volume of background tabs. The Extension does not read, record, or transmit the content of the web pages you visit.Audio Ducker does not use cookies, web beacons, or any third-party tracking technologies. We do not integrate with Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking services. Your browsing activity remains completely private and untracked by this Extension.
Because we do not collect any user data, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to outside parties. There is no data to share.
Audio Ducker is currently provided as a completely free utility. There are no hidden fees, premium subscriptions, or payment gateways integrated into the Extension.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Effective Date.” We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
